Where our organic cotton is grown and produced has been carefully selected and is monitored to ensure high standards across the board for everyone.<\/p>
Organic farming methods result in better ecosystems around the farms. Instead of toxic pesticides and fertilisers, co-planting and insect traps are used along with the ultimate natural fertiliser, cow poo. This all helps to create more biodiversity & it actually leads to a softer feel to the final product.<\/p>
Cotton production does still require a lot of water. This is why the fields that grow the cotton used in our products are in the North of India, where monsoons fill the reservoirs that supply almost all the water required. The water used within the processing plants is utilised as much as possible as closed loop water recycling is in place.<\/p>
The 'waste' materials within the production cycle have also been tackled. As an average, when making cotton, about 2% of the material in the spinning factory will end up on the floor, which would then usually be disregarded as waste. In our case, this material is taken and used to make the packaging that your product will arrive to you in. Fully recyclable of course!<\/p>
Even at the very beginning of the process, the remainders of the cotton plant after it has been pressed, is retained & then used to feed the cows (who's lovely poo we mentioned earlier!)<\/p>
The factories in India and the Isle of Wight are powered by renewable energy. Teemill is a Carbon Neutral Company.
